MARCH 27, 28 & 29, 2014!

The 28th Ohio Spring Dairy Expo was held at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio, on March 27 – 29. A total of 730 quality animals representing all seven breeds of dairy cattle were on the grounds for the shows and sales. Exhibitors traveled from across Ohio and eight other states to present their entries to judges Justin Burdette of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania and Kevin Lutz of Lincolnton, North Carolina. This year’s event featured seven shows in which 557 open class and junior animals competed for the top spots and six sales offering 244 cattle that are now headed to new homes across the country. An additional event at this year’s Expo was the Holstein USA Judges Conference, which attracted 97 dairy evaluators from across the country.

Ohio Spring Dairy Expo would not be possible without the generous support of its many sponsors. This year’s Supreme Sponsors ($2500 or more) were: American Dairy Association Mideast, Ohio Purebred Dairy Cattle Association and COBA/Select Sires. Reserve Sponsors ($1000-$1499) were: Agrarian Marketing Corporation, Ayars Family Farm, Cargill, DHI, Dupont Pioneer and Middlefield Cheese.

Rosedale Lexington-ET, an aged cow exhibited by Rosedale Genetics Ltd. of Oxford, Wisconsin, took home the top award in the show as the Supreme Champion of the Open Show.
